Corporate Social Responsibility

What is Corporate Social Responsibility?

It can be associated with and be applied to a number of things, but for Venues Event Management it is an ethos and a business way of life.

Our Company

What better place to start than our location? An organic milk farm in the heart of Wiltshire, the location provides a serene and natural environment for staff and visitors alike. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, here is an environment where creativity can thrive.

Our Service

It is important that all aspects of an event are sustainable. Event organisers need to consider the social, economic and environmental impacts of organising their event. Every choice, from the venue and travel arrangements, through to the content of the delegate packs should be designed to be as ecologically and socially responsible as possible.

At Venues Event Management we apply a sustainable approach to all of our events. This also applies to our preferred partners and supply chain. We evaluate all partners and suppliers to ensure their ethics and working practices are sustainable before commencing any projects with them.

Our Environment

Reducing our carbon footprint year on year is an on-going strategic objective and we regularly introduce new initiatives to do this. Recent initiatives have included:

  • Replacing our fleet of company cars with more economical alternatives
  • Printing all marketing materials on Forest Stewardship Council approved paper
  • Recycling all paper, plastic and aluminium cans.
  • Objective to reduce paper usage by 15% by 2011
  • Low energy lighting
  • Wherever feasible, equipment switched off overnight

Our Ethics

Venues Event Management acts in a socially responsible manner at all times by:

  • Respecting the economic, social, cultural, political and civil rights of those involved in our operations
  • Complying with all local human rights legislation
  • Implementing programmes across our operations and with our supply chain partners

Our Staff

Without our staff, we are nothing – so we need to look after them.  Every new employee, regardless of role, is given an intense three month training and induction programme. When this is completed, training is on-going with regular product knowledge sessions, familiarisation trips and sharing knowledge sessions.

We also pride ourselves on accommodating and supporting working parents with flexible working options to support our mums and dads.

The support we give our staff has been recognised by is being the first agency to be awarded the prestigious Investors in People award in 1993. We have been re-accredited with this award every consecutive year since then.

BS8901

We are currently working towards BS8901, the British Standard for sustainable event management. This standard offers a framework for all events and allows event managers to track their sustainability and benchmark their progress.

We also offer a carbon offsetting option for all of our events, the objective of which is to achieve zero carbon status for your events.
