Venues Event Management awarded BP Events contract

Venues Event Management, specialists in full event management and production, conference and meeting placement and accommodation services, has just been awarded a two year contract with BP for their events business originating from the UK. The Swindon based agency was recently informed of the news after completing a detailed tender process.

As one of the world’s largest petroleum, energy and petrochemicals groups, BP is a very large and high profile client. Before the recent tender process, BP did not have specific contracts with their preferred full event management agencies or suppliers. This had resulted in too many suppliers being used on BP events regularly. The intent of the tender was to put in place a list of preferred suppliers and therefore streamline and simplify the procurement process.

The tender went out to 40 agencies with the intention of whittling it down to between 3 and 7 on the roster. Venues Event Management was awarded the contract alongside 5 other agencies. The annual spend for this account is confidential, however it is a multi-million pound contract being awarded this year in the event management sector.

The scope of the contract covers any events required for UK based BP staff taking place in the UK and Internationally. The venue finding roster will be subject to a further tender process during 2009.

Chief Executive Anita Lowe commented:
“As you can imagine, we are delighted with the news. We have worked with BP and Castrol for a number of years and have always had a very good working relationship. We have an excellent understanding of their brand values and company policies and this stood us in good stead throughout the tender process. We are really looking forward to continuing the working relationship.”
