Green team keep it sustainable with BS 8901

Meetings, conferences and events agency Venues Event Management are proud to announce they are working towards the BS 8901 Sustainability Management Systems for Events accreditation.

BS 8901 is the new British Standard that has been developed specifically for the events industry with a purpose of helping the industry to operate in a more sustainable manner.

It requires organisations to identify and understand the effects their activities have on the environment, on society and on the economy both within the organisation and the wider economy; and put measures in place to minimise the negative effects.

Venues Event Management has always prided itself on it’s environmental initiatives. From their premises on an organic milk farm, to printing on recycled paper and a green fleet of company cars, the agency is always looking at ways to make the company more environmentally efficient.

Julie Evans, the company’s Quality and Standards Manager who is spearheading the project commented:

"More and more clients are asking for sustainable solutions for their events and we want to be ahead of the game. We already have a database of eco-friendly venues both in the UK and worldwide and offer an option to make any client event ‘carbon neutral’. Achieving this accreditation will enable myself and the teams to properly advise clients on the most sustainable way to deliver an event."
